A great social opportunity for anybody who has thought about trying out canoe camping but has yet to take the plunge. A sedate two day trip with overnight camping in scenic East Sussex/Kent.
Trip Information
- The cost of the trip will be £17 per person. There may be additional costs dependent on the participant’s equipment requirements.
- This is a self-catered canoe camping trip. Participants will be expected to provide their own tent, cooking equipment and food.
- SSWAC will endeavour to partner up individual participants who may wish to camp/cook as part of a group.
- This trip is suitable for unaccompanied young people aged 13+ to attend assuming they meet the criteria below.
- Places are limited to 25
- This is an ideal training trip for young people hoping to eventually undertake a Duke of Edinburgh expedition in open canoe
Pre-requisites
In order to attend this trip you will need to be able to provide evidence of:
- Paddling at a level of at least BCU 1 Star or Paddle Explore including experience of open canoeing.
- An ability to paddle over a distance of 30km over two days.
- Experience of camping in a lightweight tent and an ability to cook a meal on a lightweight stove.
- For adults attending you must hold a Scout Association membership number and in date DBS.
