Strap in and get ready for a wild cosmic ride this month, as the winds of change are blowing strong in March. The first of five eclipses this year begins on March 8th marking a pivotal turning point that should be carefully observed over the next 6 months. This New Moon/Solar Eclipse will highlight the mystical sign of Pisces. This could be a time of spiritual renewal. It presents an ideal opportunity to go on a retreat or pilgrimage. Two weeks later, on March 23rd, a Lunar Eclipse will fall in collaborative Libra. Close relationships will come under intense scrutiny. Warring couples will have to decide whether to make up or break up. Repeat after me: “Change can be a good thing.”

Procrastination is part of the human condition. We avoid what’s painful and stay in our comfort zones. That’s why we occasionally need a little cosmic kick in the pants to push us off the fence and into action.  Eclipses are these agents of change. They fall four to six times a year and turn things upside-down. In our disoriented state, we may act out of character or see turbulence in the world. Eclipses can also help break patterns and shift dynamics. However, most astrologers suggest waiting a week or so before taking drastic action, allowing the eclipse energy to settle first.

 

Pisces is a water sign and the 12th sign of the zodiac signifying the Great “Cosmic Oneness” from which we all emerge and ultimately return. This 12th and final sign of the zodiac wheel is all about “perception” and seeing with our Third Eye, using our psychic senses to perceive the hidden and unseen realms…the subtle realms of the unconscious: dreams, telepathy, psychic phenomena, precognition, mysticism and inspiration.

I’m sure you’ve noticed how we are moving quickly from the density of the 3D world to a more enlightened state of being. Pisces is the sign that provides the bridge from the third dimension to that of higher consciousness and altered states. It moves us from the physical plane into the astral worlds and beyond. Like a radio receiver, we can attune to a myriad of “channels and frequencies”. Logic and reason dissolve in the world of the unconscious this month. Pisces has no sense of time (except the Dreamtime). There is no past, no future, and no separation. This is the sign of the “Christ Consciousness” of total Oneness and Compassion of the Heart. This New Moon in Pisces gives us the “green light” to set our intentions for bringing more peace, harmony, and creativity into our lives. We are being impelled to dream a new dream and to create a New World of Wonder!

As if two Eclipses weren’t enough, the star of the month is Jupiter. Situated in Virgo, the Greater Benefic forms two significant aspects: a trine (favorable) with Pluto from Capricorn, that is exact on March 16th, and a square (challenging) with Saturn from Sagittarius, which is exact on the March 23rd. Both aspects affect the whole month, and their influence is quite contradictory. On the one hand, the Jupiter-Pluto trine speaks of regeneration, rebuilding, regulating a balance of forces and reestablishing justice, increased trust and wellbeing. On the other, the Jupiter-Saturn square foretells political havoc, intense political conflicts, failed joint actions, diplomatic failures, broken alliances and treaties, restrictions, complaints, economical difficulties.

So as you can see, things run hot and cold in March. Some of us might feel the positive influence more, while others the negative one. The negative one seems to be stronger however, so now and then we might all feel it. Jupiter is the star of March also because it rules Pisces (for close to 2000 years before Neptune was discovered in 1846), and in March Pisces is animated by the presence of the Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Pisces, plus Mars and Saturn in Sagittarius. Mars entered Sagittarius on March 5th and becomes a catalyst for motivation throughout the month.

And speaking of motivation, on March 19th, the Sun enters take-charge Aries, marking the Spring Equinox. As the first sign of the tropical zodiac, Aries represents a strong sometimes creative thrust and powerful expression of energy. The sign is governed by Mars, the planet of activity and assertiveness, which astrologers believe adds the traits of competitiveness, impulsiveness, and the instinct to act spontaneously. The Sun is also strongly associated with this sign, which it governs by exaltation (elevated). The solar-association is seen as adding expression of the ego, and the desire to make a mark on the world as an individual. During this transit we are much more self-involved with a stronger sense of self-awareness. We feel like our life is ours to mold, and we can shape it however we please.

Now let me dive into the other powerful lunation this month, the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Libra also on March 23rd. As always a Full Moon in Libra brings emphasis to relationships, stability, and objectivity, but this lunation is super-charged. This Lunar Eclipse is a time of change, endings and beginnings. The results are not always tied to actions or previous intent, but it brings with it enlightenment about the truth, and at times additional information is revealed. These changes can be drastic and connected with major endings of all types, or simple, as in the case of a personal epiphany about something of significance that changes our course or gives us added information that becomes important.

 

As the Sun in Aries (self) opposes the Moon in Libra (another), intensity of emotions and instincts reach their peak at this lunation, an objective and balanced look at personal relationships will give us a deeper view of the types of people and situations we allow into our lives. Being in touch with your own needs and intentions, and those of others, we will clearly see any relationship imbalances that are causing disharmony. With a Lunar Eclipse in particular, the blotting out of the Moon represents a resetting of emotions, clearing away the emotional baggage of the previous six months. The Lunar Eclipse is like a snap shot in time, but like old style film camera, it takes time to develop. This March 23rd Lunar Eclipse will remain active until the next 2016 Lunar Eclipse on September 16, 2016. This will certainly be a month to remember folks.
