This Sunday the 26th of July, members of the human rights and Palestine solidarity organziation BDS South Africa will be participating in the upcoming popular sports event, the
"702 Walk the Talk".
This year, the 702 Walk the Talk encouraged entrants to walk for a cause, belief or charity. An official BDS South Africa team, led by Deputy Minister Enver Surty, will be participating under the theme: "Boycott Apartheid Israel: Free Palestine".
Last year the "702 Walk the Talk" took place during the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian Gaza. Community members and BDS supporters who lived in homes along the route of the walk hung placards and banners in solidarity with the Palestinian people and to express outrage against the Israeli bombings against Gaza (
click here). Banners read: "#GazaUnderAttack – Boycott Apartheid Israel"; "Apartheid: Wrong in SA, Wrong in Palestine"; and "Killing Kids is Not On" (referring to the Israeli killing of more than 551 Palestinian children during its bombing).
