Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You."
I BELIEVE IN GOD THE FATHER ALMIGHTY, MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH
In the Apostles' Creed we confess that this God who is our Father is Almighty - that He is the all powerful maker of heaven and earth. In the opening verse of the Bible we read, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). This teaching of Scripture is clearly taught in the Bible, beginning with the opening verse and continuing throughout. In the book of Exodus God reminded His people of this fact when He established His covenant with them at Mt. Sinai saying, "In six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it" (Exodus 20:11).
Down thorough the ages the fact that the LORD was the creator of all things was passed on. Old Testament believers such as Job, Moses, David, Solomon, Hezekiah, Isaiah, Nehemiah, and Zechariah all made confessions that the LORD is the Almighty Creator of the heavens and earth. New Testament believers like Peter and Paul made that same confession as well. In our passage, the prophet Jeremiah not only confesses that the LORD made all things, but also confesses that God is almighty by saying, "There is nothing too hard for You!"
The creation of the world shows us this almighty power of God. His preservation of the world continues to remind us of God's presence all around us. When we confess our faith in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, we are confessing that we have a God that is in control of all things, and is able to deliver us from anything we may face in this life. Greatest of all is the deliverance He has provided us from our sin and eternal death through the blood of Christ. Thanks be to our Almighty God, with whom all things are possible!
