Deuteronomy 32:3-6 For I proclaim the name of the LORD: Ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He. They have corrupted themselves; They are not His children, Because of their blemish: A perverse and crooked generation. Do you thus deal with the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, who bought you? Has He not made you and established you?

TWO NECESSARY REMINDERS

When it comes to every problematic issue that we face in this world, there are two things that are very good to keep in mind: 1) God is completely good and righteous, and in Him is the solution for every problem; 2) we humans are by nature sinful and unrighteous, and each one of us bears a portion of the burden for all of the problems that have entered into this world. If we start forgetting or changing these important facts, we ultimately have bad information and we will not know where to find the solutions for the problems that we face in this life.

Again, in order to truly understand our situation and the problems that face us, we must swallow that hard pill which tells us that each one of us by nature is not inherently good, but that by nature each one of us is unrighteous, set against God, and deserving of eternal death and punishment. When the problem and its source are clearly exposed, then we are prepared to see the perfect solution to all our problems.

In His Word, God shows us His righteousness and goodness. In His Word, God shows us His love for us in Christ Jesus, in spite of our natural opposition to Him by our sinfulness. In His Word, He works to break down our cold hearts of stone, and He places a new, warm, living heart of faith within in us by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Realizing our problems, and the source of our problems, may God use His precious Word again today to bring us His wonderful, loving solution of salvation in Jesus.
