RANGER REPORT & October 19, 2005

Q: "What standard would you apply if you had to define hipness?

A: "Well, in the strictest sense of the word, I'd say…a certain death of something, somewhere near the center.

Q: "How does this develop?"

A: "Obviously it begins with an awareness far beyond the ordinary kind of emotional hypersensitiveness, or empathy, so acute that it's unbearably painful and has to be anesthetized - so what is left in the end is "iron in the soul"…awareness but total insulation from emotion. The big trick, of course & and I don't know that it's ever really been done & is to eliminate all negative emotion and retain positive."
"An Interview with Terry Southern" by Paul Krassner

Greetings to all you various life forms out there! Here is a list of the shows we will be doing in the month of November. They are listed chronologically. Next week is the 20th Annual Manatee Masquerade! Festivities will take place on Friday, Oct. 28 at The Sandtrap in Trappe, PA. La Banda Grande music begins at 9:30ish pm. Feel free to dress up. There will be prizes for the best costumes as well as various give-aways. A special commemorative poster has been designed for this event. As usual, we will be playing Crazy Carl's the first Friday of the month, as well as Finn McCools every second Thursday.
The day before Thanksgiving (Wed., Nov.23), we will be playing The Whitpain Tavern w/ special guests.
A new feature on our website are videos. If you go to the downloads section and click on "Los Videos," you can see a listing of our videos which we will continue to update.

That's all the nits that's fit to pick. And now here is your Poem-Of-The-Month:

This poem was given to us last week by an elderly gentleman called Abe of Lafayette. He goes by the name of "Dr. Smiles". He wrote this while he listened to our set. (When Randy and I perform as an acoustic duo we call ourselves, "The Medicine Brothers".)

"The Terrific Medicine Brothers #1"

The Medicine Brothers have been around And still produce the good sound They do well Professional you can tell When they play bluegrass They never run out of gas As they play the harmonica & guitar You know they are going to go far This is a group you cannot forget Or you will live to regret They don't work for praise But to find that elusive raise May they continue to do well And the near future will tell
