John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

WHAT DOES GOD WANT FOR US?

Jesus not only tells us what the Father wanted of him, but also what the Father wants for us. What does God want for us?

That is a very important question, one that folks should ask throughout the year! However, most of the time we ask a different question, "What does God want me to do?" We ask this question when we have to make difficult decisions. When given the opportunity to pursue a good job in another city, we might ask: "What does God want me to do?" When deciding what college to attend, we might ask, "What does God want me to do?"

If you want to find the answer to the question, "What does God want me to do?" you might ask, "What does God want for me?" The answer to that question is given simply here.

" ... this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life."

What does GOD want for you? He wants you to see Jesus and believe in Him and have everlasting life. THAT is what God wants for you, that is HIS WILL for you.

The answers to many questions become simpler when we remember the ultimate goal is that we remain in faith, trusting in Jesus. We strive to avoid those things which could ultimately undermine our faith. We strive to do those things that will bring us closer to the Lord and keep us in touch with the gospel of forgiveness. The Lord strengthens us to do just that through His Word.

We aren't an afterthought in God's plans. God had plans for Jesus and those plans concerned our eternal welfare. God made plans to redeem us and Jesus carried those plans out to completion. Jesus took the sin and guilt that stood against us and buried it in His tomb so that we could be His own. God has made plans for us, to keep us through life and death. This is what He wants for us!
