Exodus 4:13-14 But he said, "O my Lord, please send by the hand of whomever else You may send." So the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and He said: "Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And look, he is also coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart."

THE LOVE OF CHRIST WE'RE CALLED TO SHARE . . . IS THE VERY POWER THAT OVERTURNS OUR EXCUSES

How often don't we make excuses? Moses' mindset is very common. By nature we are hesitant and unwilling to share our faith. We excuse ourselves by thinking, "I'm not cut out for this, it would be better for others to do this, those better trained." But that's false humility, it's a lack of faith, and we know it's wrong! The Lord Himself enables us by the Spirit working in and through us. We've heard that God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the Called-- and He has called and qualified each one of us! The Lord wants us, in faith and love for Him, to take the initiative and speak out. He tells us: "Do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." But that's something our flesh doesn't like to hear-- that we each have a responsibility to share the Gospel!

Our mission ministry and what we do with it always boils down to a matter of love. Love for self thinks, "I can't. I don't know enough. I don't want to be embarrassed. Christian love thinks just the opposite. It's always pointed outward away from self. It understands why it’s so vital to share the Gospel: It's the power of God to salvation! God gave Aaron to work with Moses, to be his spokesman to the people. We'll most likely not be given a companion like Aaron to speak for us! We'll have to speak for ourselves or precious souls will be lost!

We may even have similar opportunities within our own congregation-- friends and family, brothers and sisters in the faith that are straying need us to speak to them for their soul's sake! The words we speak will not return to the LORD empty, but will accomplish His purpose! We must realize that the highest and greatest love we can show for anyone is to share Jesus, who freely gives forgiveness and salvation to all who ask! How many sermons on mission work have we heard over the years? How many will it take before we realize our Lord is serious? Jesus doesn't want our excuses. He wants us to make His life-giving Word our life's work!
