MEDIA REMINDER: Joint Media Briefing Wednesday, 4 October 2017
What: Six national networks, representing 2,000 Irish charities, will call for a package of measures which will release substantial funding to address social exclusion for people with disabilities, carers, young people and some rural and inner-city communities. One of the measures will be a VAT compensation scheme which will fix a tax anomaly and release substantial funds to housing charities. Various studies suggest that Irish charities pay around €40m VAT annually on independently raised income. It cannot be reclaimed directly under an anomaly in EU law. This tax eats into funds that could be used for essential service provision. Case studies wil lbe presented.
When: Wednesday, 4 October, 11am-12noon (start at 11am sharp)
Where: The Boardroom, Buswells Hotel, Molesworth Street, Dublin 2
Who: The Disability Federation of Ireland, Irish Rural Link, The Wheel, Care Alliance Ireland, National Youth Council of Ireland and Carmichael Centre for Voluntary Groups.
Interview opportunities will be available and case studies will be presented.
Photocall at 11.45am.
