Dinner with "Swing"
On Friday, 21st. June, brethren from around the Province mixed with non-masons and their ladies and were treated to a delightful meal and superb entertainment at the Stradey Park Hotel in Llanelli for a “Dinner with Swing”. A special mention must be made of the support from the Carmarthen and Peterwell Lodges, who appeared to have enjoyed themselves immensely. Everything went to plan, from the “heads and tails” to the “stand down bingo”. Following the meal, the artist sang hits by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin etc. and it was not long before the dance floor was full. The raffle and auction were well supported, with all the prizes very kindly donated and thanks were given to the individual donators. The organising committee are pleased to report that the evening raised some £3,000 towards the 2015 Festival.

Hall Stone Jewel
A company is currently offering for sale replicas of the Hall Stone Jewel in the form of cufflinks and lapel badges.
UGLE has concluded that the use of the design in this context is inappropriate. The device is inextricably associated with Freemasons' Hall, which was built as a Peace Memorial to those Freemasons who gave their lives during the Great War of 1914 to 1918.
UGLE considers that the trivialising of such an iconic emblem by turning it into an item of personal adornment is in the worst possible taste, as well as deeply disrespectful to the memory of the many members of the Craft who fell in the Great War. UGLE recommends that Brethren of this Constitution neither purchase nor wear (whether on Masonic or on non-Masonic occasions) such lapel badges or cuff-links.
The Provincial Grand Master trusts that all West Wales Brethren will comply with this recommendation.

The Kensington Centenary
The Centenary meeting of The Kensington Lodge of Installed Masters no 3667 took place on Thursday 20th June 2013, at the Llanelli Masonic Centre. RW Bro Eric Mock, The Provincial Grand Master for West Wales, is the Ruling Master of the Lodge and he presided at the meeting.
The meeting included a short talk from W Bro Frank Williams about the history of the Lodge.W Bro Frank was secretary of the Lodge for many years and he has written an excellent book about the history of the Lodge in honour of the occasion. W Bro Rev J Keith Davies gave an excellent oration and then RW Bro Eric and W Bro Keith (pictured above) dedicated the new honours boards, which have been purchased thanks to donations from the subscribing Past Masters of the Lodge (pictured below left).
This wonderful Masonic occasion was organised by a steering committee (pictured above right) chaired by W Bro Bryn Barton and a huge debt of thanks is also owed to Lodge Treasurer, W Bro Dilwyn Littlejohns. The meeting was tinged with some sadness as the Brethren present stood in silent tribute to W Bro Gerald Coles, the Lodge Secretary who was also hugely instrumental in the organisation of the meeting, but who passed away suddenly in May on his beloved golf course.
Among the many distinguished Brethren in attendance was RW Bro Captain Sir Norman Lloyd-Edwards, The Provincial Grand Master of South Wales and Ruling Master of The Lord Swansea Lodge (Installed Masters) (South Wales). RW Bro Eric was delighted to welcome his fellow Provincial Grand Master and Ruling Master to the meeting, especially as it was RW Bro Capt. Sir Norman's last official duty as PrGM of South Wales.
The final meeting of the Kensington Centenary celebrations will be held on Friday 13th September when RW Bro Captain Sir Norman Lloyd-Edwards (now Past Provincial Grand Master of South Wales) will be giving a very entertaining talk to members, guests and their ladies. Sir Norman is a wonderful speaker, so book early to avoid disappointment!!

A New  Master for The Richard Warburton Lodge no 9767
W Bro Steve Hookey, Assistant Provincial Grand Master of West Wales was Installed as Worshipful Master of the Richard Warburton Lodge no 9767. on Monday 10th June in Fishguard Masonic Hall. Membership of The Richard Warburton Lodge is restricted to Secretaries and Scribes present and past, with the view of improving the proficiency and knowledge of the secretariat of The Province of West Wales.
It was a particularly special meeting for W Bro Steve who served the Province with distinction as Provincial Grand Secretary from February 2005 until July 2012. He was preceeded in that office by his great friend and mentor, the late W Bro Peter Mason, who, like W Bro Steve, was one of the Founders and also the first Worshipful Master of the Richard Warburton Lodge. Peter Mason was preceeded as Provincial Grand Secretary by his great friend and mentor, the late Richard Warburton himself and it seemed very appropriate that W Bro Steve should become the 10th Worshipful Master of the Lodge.
The Richard Warburton Lodge meets twice a year. In June at the Installation of their Worshipful Master and in November, when there is an opportunity to meet with the Provincial Grand Secretary, his Assistant and all the other secretaries and scribes in the Province, in a relaxed and informal setting (plus free buffet!). All secretaries and scribes within the Province of West Wales are expected to attend the November business meeting. They are also encouraged to attend the June Installation meeting and, if possible, to become joining members of the Lodge.
