NOW...ERASE.
Beyond the stereotype, a STORY.
Beyond the image, the TRUTH.
Beyond the hype lies the HEART of the
Black male experience in the Steel City.

Stories about fathers and sons, survival and demise, fear and courage, life and death...The pulse of human experience hinges on this: the power of voice. Testimony, a play in two acts. Come witness theirs. And find yours.

Written by 2010-11 August Wilson Center Fellow Dr. Tameka L. Cage and directed by the August Wilson Center's Artistic Director for Theatre Initiatives Mark Clayton Southers, UPRISE: Raising Black Men Project is a community engagement theater production developed through a series of local dialogues and performed by Pittsburgh's own Black men and boys.
