Hello Firstname

Wednesday 5 June

Next Wednesday we welcome Robert Harvey BA ARPS EFIAP MCIWEM CSci CEnv, who will be judging the Annual Print Competition. Robert is a strong natural history and landscape photographer from Wiltshire who came to BPS back in February to give his talk on astrophotography. If you want to know more about Robert, I suggest that you visit his website.
For those of you still puzzling over the array of letters after his name (other than the photographic ones), they are:
MCIWEM - Member of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management
CSci - Chartered Scientist
CEnv - Chartered Environmentalist

Closing Date
Next Wednesday, 5 June, is also the closing date for the President's Cup and Garmston Bowl competitions, which this year is being judged by Mike Dales ARPS CPAGBDetails of entry for both competitions can be found on p26 of your BPS Handbook.

AGM - Motions
Your BPS Handbook carries the following note on p14:
Please note: Members are reminded that this year’s AGM takes place on 3rd July. All motions for the AGM must be received by the Secretary (Nick Ball) at least 5 weeks prior to this date (29th May at latest). All motions must be in writing and signed by the proposer and a seconder.
Would you please note that this deadline has now been extended to 5 June.
It's worth mentioning that the Society rules state that:
No member shall be entitled to vote at any General Meeting unless all moneys presently payable by him to the Society have been paid.

New Creative Competition - Closing Date 12 June

I have previously mentioned the new Creative Image competition that is due to be held after the Society AGM on 3 July. On the left you can see a computer generated image of the Bob Faris Trophy that will be up for grabs on the night for the best creative image (print or PDI). The competition is to be judged by Colin Harrison FRPS FIPF FBPE MFIAP MPAGB EFIAP/d1 MPSA AWPF APAGB.

Below are the rules of the competition:
For this competition, a submitted image must have originated as a photographic image or images, produced either in camera or by post processing. All images must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. Artwork or computer graphics generated by the entrant may be incorporated so long as the original photographic content predominates. Digital skills should be seen as the tools to compose photographic images into one new single image. The final composition will show the photographer’s artistic interpretation.
Rules
1.      This is an Open competition, with no levels of entry.
2.      Images may have been entered into any previous club competition and may be entered into any subsequent bi-monthly or annual competition, other than this one.
3.      The Trophy winner will not be eligible to enter the next two Creative Competitions.
4.      Each entrant may submit up to three images. These may be all DPI, all Print or any combination of the two.
5.      The judge will select a Best DPI, a Best Print and award the trophy to one of these two.

Trumpet Blower's Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
