Hello Firstname

Wednesday, 29 June
Next Wednesday, 29 June, is the date of the Garmston Bowl & President's Cup competitions, which this year are being judged by Chris Palmer FRPS APAGB AFIAP. This is an evening to please both print and projected image workers.

A Plea to the Dregs Of BPS
I have been asked to publish a request that members should make sure that they empty the dregs of their tea/coffee cups before putting the cups in the waste bin - pulling a bag that is half full of cold tea and coffee out of the bin is prone to make quite a mess and is not very pleasant!

Somerset Rebels Speedway
A group of nine members travelled down the M5 for an evening of speedway at Somerset Rebels home track at Highbridge on Friday. We were entertained to a thrilling evening of racing made all the better by the wonderful hospitality of the club and some absolutely marvellous weather/lighting. Below is one of my efforts.

The Late Derek Dorsett
Former member, Derek Dorsett, who died recently, has left a number of photographic items which will be available to pick up from the "Other Room" upstairs at the club next Wednesday from 6.45pm.  His wife just asks that you make a voluntary contribution if you would like an item (some items will have a guide price). Any money will go to the British Heart Foundation. All items are available as seen.

Calumet Fujifilm Day
Calumet will be holding a Fujifilm Day run by the established photographer, Damien Lovegrove.
Damien will be running a morning and an afternoon session where he will take you through the steps he uses to create portraits with intimacy and movement.
He will do a practical demonstration of unique lighting styles using studio flash kit. He will then download the pictures and edit them in Lightroom for you to see the whole process from start to finish.
This insightful session will begin with an introductory presentation from Damien, there will then be a shooting demonstration with a professional model who he will be bringing along for the day. Damien will then spend some time running through the post production process with the images that he has shot.
Throughout the session Damien will be showcasing the Fujifilm systems and will be working in the studio with Bowens lighting equipment. After the session there will be an opportunity to chat to Damien and Calumet's experienced staff members on any questions that you may have around the products that Damien used throughout the session.
The event is being held at the BPS clubrooms on 29 July and tickets are available from Calumet at £69 per head. As BPS are providing the venue, Calumet will hold 3 places open for BPS members, however they will need to know fairly soon as demand for places is expected to be high. For full details and booking, please click here.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
It has been a good week for BPS members gaining FIAP distinctions, there have been EFIAP distinctions awarded to Derwood Pamphilon and Val Duncan, EFIAP/b (bronze) awarded to Greg Duncan and EFIAP/s (silver) awarded to Sue O'Connell. Well done and well deserved by all four.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

Personal Detail Changes
Please don't forget that if you change your address or gain additional photographic distinctions it would be appreciated if you could let the Membership Secretary know so that she can keep her records up to date - please email all changes to membership@bristolphoto.org.uk
The distinctions we have on record are those shown at the top of this newsletter, if they are wrong, please let Carol know.
