With this summer's drought, Mother Nature hasn't been very kind to some of our MAiZE family members across the country and our heart goes out to all those who have been impacted. For those who will be attempting to open mazes with shorter-than-usual corn this fall, we wanted to offer a few thoughts & ideas we hope might help...
1. To compensate for the lack of corn height, bump up the fun factor by offering your guests plenty of interactive experiences:
a. Games: passports, maize-o-poly, cornundrums, follow the leader, simon says, FSI, etc.
b. Activities/Obstacles: tubes, slides, spinning wheels, bike fan, rope walk, etc.
c. Theming: incorporate props & games to compliment the theme of your design.
2. If your corn is quite a bit shorter than usual, it may be best to acknowledge the corn height at your entrance to set correct expectations for your guests.
Given that our goal is always to exceed customer expectations, rather than disappointing customers who expect tall corn, it could be better to acknowledge the impact of the drought and have them go into the maze knowing what to expect. Many may even sympathize with you once they understand why the corn is short. The sign enclosed with this email has been newly created to help those impacted by the drought and would be great to post at your entrance.

3. Protect the corn as much as possible
a. use netting or barriers in weak spots
b. increase your labor/corn cops/lookout towers to decrease problems with cutting through the corn, etc.
c. make sure to reinforce rules at the beginning of the maze about staying on the pathways
