VALE PHILIP WORTH
10.09.49 – 25.11.14
It was with great
sadness that friends and
colleagues learnt of the peaceful passing last Tuesday of Phil Worth.
Phil, along with his wife Lea and daughters Becky and Nicky, was a long
term resident and a well liked and respected community member.
Phil and Lea built their house at the top of the Island directly above
Bell Wharf in 1986 and settled in to raise a family. When Becky
and Nicky were teenagers, the family moved to a waterfront house that
Phil renovated and they spent many years enjoying life there before
moving north to settle in Cairns seven years ago. Phil’s son Jordan
(Jordie) still lives on the Island with Kristy and their two beautiful
daughters, Isabella and Evie. Phil also leaves behind his
son-in-law Rob and gorgeous grandchildren Eli and Loki, as well as a
loving extended family.
Phil had a long career in the film industry as a set construction
supervisor and builder working on many well known productions such as
the Matrix trilogy and Travelling North. The entertainment
industry had woven a slight eccentricity into his personality and he
was great fun, well remembered for his singing at parties, particularly
“Lean on Me” by Bill Withers, a song about friendship.
For all those who knew him he will be a star in our hearts forever.
There will be a family celebration for Phil next week in Cairns and
early next year his ashes will find their final resting place in
Pittwater.
