NEWS & ADVENTURES of a thoughtful heart songstress mama | March 2016
~ The Amanda West Music Newsletter ~

Dear Friends,

And here it is. The moment you've been waiting for...
It's the NEW "HABIT" MUSIC VIDEO!!!

See it HERE!

Except, I see, that somehow, although I've yet to officially announce its release, over 100 people have already found and watched it. Oh you clever kids :-)

I want to extend again my immense gratitude for all the work, energy, and love that went into making this video, and to everyone who came out to celebrate its unveiling at our release party in Santa Cruz! (See that lovely photo up top).

For everyone who couldn't make it (and for everyone who did), I hope you will enjoy, and continue to enjoy this little film, and will share it freely with your friends and community. It was a beautiful project to be a part of and I am so pleased with how it turned out.

Meanwhile, as I continue enjoying working one on one with private students in guitar, voice and songwriting, I just finished up teaching some additional after school music classes. Apparently this is what I look like when I'm teaching:

I am encountering SO much interest and passion for music in these Santa Cruz mountains and beyond, so I'm happy to announce I will be offering two different sessions of music camps this summer through the Mountains Art Center in Ben Lomond. Stay tuned to my website, and the Mountains Art Center's website for details on those, or feel free to write me if you're interested in signing your child up.

"The Seeds of Destiny..."

Despite the fact that we are raising a digital native child, Pete & I have thus far been quite conservative in our offering of screen time. (Soooo much to say about that, and I've recently enjoyed some input from THIS - the "Digital Parenting Summit") However, we recently decided to enjoy our first family movie night, with what else, but the movie Babe! Do you remember Babe? This time around, this fabulous quote jumped out to me:

"Farmer Hoggett knew that little ideas that tickled and nagged
and refused to go away should never be ignored,
for in them lie the seeds of destiny"

I have been thinking a lot recently about creativity (Elizabeth Gilbert's new book "Big Magic" offered some good food for thought, not all of which I agreed with), and what it means to live an artist's life, and I think Farmer Hoggett was onto something there... Pursuing those little tickley ideas are what bring some of the deepest joys in life, and perhaps, help us along our own paths of destiny... Orrrr sometimes we just learn something.

We'll see what happens with this one:

For over a year now I've been facilitating a Mama Musicians group on facebook and gathering other women who are also mothers are musicians (there are perhaps, not surprisingly, not too many of us crazy enough to attempt to walk both paths!) And, what can I say, I grew up watching Sesame Street, so I'm all about cooperation and working together and truly believe that makes life better. So, if you know any other mama musicians, please direct them here: www.mamamusician.com

It's time to be celebrating the arrival of Spring.... eggs, chocolate, cleaning, and planting the seeds of destiny! I have various events and a few shows coming up so have a peek down below at the events section. Meanwhile, I post semi-regularly on facebook, so you can come find me there if that's where you like to hang...

Thank you SO much for sharing this journey of being human with me!
I hope to see you soon,

sending you love & light & song,
always,

~ Amanda
