Things are a whirlwind here because we're leaving for the Fall Quilt Market in Houston TX in just 16 days. As a matter of fact, at this very moment we're loading our stuff into the truck so we can be ship it off this afternoon. (I hope it's waiting for us when we get there!) So just ignore us, grab a cup of coffee and settle down in a comfy place, because we have some great stuff to show you this month. But first, who said men can't be great shopping companions? Here's the latest video of my grandson that proves otherwise!

Shannon Maciejewski of Almont, IL created this versatile SideKick and she says she really LOVES it because of all the pockets! She included some extra pictures with her entry too. Here's one of the check register area, the front pouch interior and the roomy main storage area!

When she found this gorgeous fabric at a local shop, Jackie Abel of Watertown, SD just knew it would be PERFECT for the Baggalista! This bag turned out to be a gift for a very lucky friend who gets tons of compliments on it! And its no wonder, because the back is just as pretty as the front!

|
Christine Mazzullo of Elgin, IL fashioned her Quattro from fabric that's been in her stash for a long time... maybe YEARS (I can relate!). She bought one of our kits because she loves our new striped zippers, and added some extra interior pockets on her own! She did a great job and even the back is quite lovely!

Anki Arvmyren of Sweden said that this bold Baggalista is a gift to herself! She chose this pattern due its practicality and already had the Amy Butler fabric in her collection. (Click the links to check out the side view and the back.) Anki said she would really enjoy carrying this bag on her summer holiday and on her first trip to the Houston Quilt Festival this Fall! |

Pamela Dikeman of Waterford, MI decided to try her hand at making her own handbag because she didn't want to drop $100+ on a Vera Bradley bag.
I think she made the right decision because you'll never see one of Vera's bags looking as fabulous or as original as this Lollapalooza, right?

|
And Viki Banaszak of Wichita, KS said that she really doesn't sew all that much, but that her Carolina CarryAll came together real well, especially when she let go of her preconceived notions of how it should be done! I love that comment Viki, and it seems I've heard that before!

It's amazing how much time you can spend at a store trying to decide if the color or hue of a fabric will really work for you! Now you can take the guesswork out of shopping by comparing fabric colors, patterns and scale with your own fabric swatches.
Not only will you buy the right fabric the first time (saving money to buy more fabric!) but it will make shopping quicker, easier and more enjoyable!

New Word of the Month- Parkma
|
- (n.) The uncanny luck of being able to find a good parking spot everywhere you go.
|
Having a catflap-sized hole and being far away from foxes sounds like a great place to raise a litter of kittens, right?
But you wouldn't have expected this black and white cat to move into an owl box 20ft up an old oak tree - and give birth to four cute kittens there.
The box was put up on private woodland near Rugby, Warwickshire, around four years ago to attract more wildlife to the area. It had previously been home to a family of Little Owls.

Today is Monday, October 8th, the 282nd day of 2012. (There are only 84 days remaining in this year, just in case you're wondering!)
But here's the deal- try as I might, I just didn't find any interesting things that have happened on this day in history, BUT- there were some VERY interesting people born on this day! Actor Matt Damon was born on this day in 1970 in Cambridge, MA. and two of my favorite guys from Saturday Night Live, legendary "fall-guy Chevy Chase (1943) and Darrell Hammond (1960) will also be celebrating with birthday cake today! (And who would have guessed that Chevy Chase's birth name was Cornelius Crane? No wonder he changed it!)
And if today also happens to be YOUR birthday, here's a great big "Happy Birthday to YOU" from StudioKat Designs, and if today is not your birthday, you can celebrate the day too by watching a Matt Damon movie (I recommend " We Bought a Zoo") or by simply pulling a fall-down prank on one of your friends (remember to choose your landing zone VERY carefully!)
