Native Plant Conservation Campaign News:  Campaign Welcomes the New York Botanical Garden as our 43rd Affiliate Organization!
October 24, 2016

The New York Botanical Garden has joined the NPCC as our 43rd Affiliate!

The New York Botanical Garden is a museum of plants, an educational institution, and a scientific research organization. Founded in 1891 and now a National Historic Landmark, it is one of the greatest botanical gardens in the world and the largest in any city in the United States, distinguished by the beauty of its diverse landscape and extensive collections and gardens, as well as by the scope and excellence of its programs in horticulture, education, and science.

More than 300,000 people annually learn about plant science, ecology, and healthful eating through NYBG's hands-on, curriculum-based programming. Nearly 90,000 of those visitors are children from underserved neighboring communities, while more than 3,000 are teachers from New York City's public school system participating in professional development programs.

NYBG operates one of the world's largest plant research and conservation programs, with nearly 200 staff members—including 80 Ph.D. scientists—working in the Garden's state-of-the-art molecular labs as well as in the field, where they lead programs in 49 countries.

Their commitment to understanding and conservation of native plants is described at http://www.nybg.org/about/120-years-native-plants.php
