THE RANGER REPORT  -  May 20, 2020   The Official Newsletter of The Mighty Manatees    "Celebrating 34 Years In Search Of The Lost Chord"

Greetings.  How are you?  We hope that you and yours are staying safe during this pandemic.  Our band members are all doing well.  This is our 73rd day without a gig.  The word gig is short for engagement.

LIVE! ON THE LANE #2  -  This Saturday, May 23, at 8:00 PM EST, my family and I will be broadcasting Episode #2 of LIVE! ON THE LANE.  This is a live stream show that can be seen on The Mighty Manatees Band Facebook page, and also on Instagram @themightymanatees.  We will be featuring a piano, a mandolin, 2 guitars, 5 harmonicas, and some new music videos from Jozo and The Laniacs, as well as an original cartoon.  Also appearing:  my daughters Daisy and Eleanor, and our family cats Otis and Boo Bear.  This is a free, all-ages, 90 minute performance, but tips are appreciated.

RISING SUN NEWS  -  Although he had to cancel all live shows for the time being, Rising Sun Inn co-owner Chef Fred Duer has been staying busy.  During the course of 3 weekends Fred and his staff gave away almost 2000 meals to food banks, local hospitals, and other organizations!  Fred did this with the help of donations and community partners.  Way to go, Chef Fred!  http://www.risingsuninn.net
EXTRA QUOTES  -

"I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different."  -  Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

"A blues singer isn't a performer, doesn't need an audience.  Can sing to the ocean, the moon.  Even when there are ten thousand people out there, there still might be no audience."  -  Nick Gravenites

"He seldom mentions cell dimensions."  -  Ranger Will

"The only thing bigger than Mother Nature is Father Greed."  -  Thomas Friedman

"Not on my watch.  Actually, I don't have a watch.  -  Ellie Hodgson  (age 4)

"Thanks for everything.  I have no complaint whatsoever."  -  Sono

MUSIC CLIP OF THE MONTH  -  This month's song is called "Kamikazee Collie" and was written, performed, engineered, and produced by our own Karl "K-Jo" Frick.  This song was recorded on a 24-track in the mid-80's and is based on a true story about a crazy dog.  Karl says, "The song wrote itself in half an hour, one afternoon."  He does all the singing, guitar, bass, and drum programming.  Barry Taylor (RIP) plays lead guitar.

Well, that's about all the news for this month. We hope to have some gig announcements next month.  Please hang in there and stay strong, smart, and well.

One Love,
