Dear Colleagues:

We seek your help in distributing information about our Scholar and Fellow programs to your doctoral students and gerontological nursing faculty. The National Hartford Centers of Gerontological Nursing Excellence* Scholars and Fellows Award Program, now housed at the Gerontological Society of America, continues to thrive and build national momentum in gerontological nursing research and education.

Unique among predoctoral and postdoctoral opportunities, this program deliberately strives to build leadership skills and national connections while supporting high quality research training.
Over the past 12 years we’ve learned that most applicants learn of this program from mentors in their schools of nursing.  Therefore, I respectfully ask you to encourage students and faculty within your institution to seriously consider these opportunities.

We plan to award another 6 scholar awards and 6 fellow awards in 2013.  Details about the Scholars and Fellows Award Programs and application materials are found on our web site: www.geriatricnursing.org/applications.

Please feel free to contact the Coordinating Center (202-587-5872) if additional information would be helpful.

Best regards,
J Taylor Harden
