Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

ORDINARY PEOPLE, EXTRAORDINARY MESSAGE

The following events didn't really happen (they are only legend) but teach us an important truth.

When Jesus ascended to heaven, some angels approached Him and asked: "Did You accomplish Your task on earth?" "Yes, all is finished," He replied. The angels then asked a second question: "Has the whole world heard of the extraordinary things You have done?" "No," said Jesus. The angels next asked: "Then what's Your plan?" Jesus said: "I have left twelve men and some other followers to spread the Gospel of God's love for sinners to the whole world." The angels looked at Him and said: "What is Your Plan B?"

Friends, there is no Plan B. Jesus desires to spread the Gospel in the world through ordinary people like you and me.

Spread, oh, spread, thou mighty Word, Spread the kingdom of the Lord,
Wheresoe'er His breath has given Life to beings meant for heaven.
Tell of our Redeemer's love, Who forever doth remove
By His holy sacrifice All the guilt that on us lies.
Tell them of the Spirit given Now to guide us up to heaven,
Strong and holy, just and true, Working both to will and do.
Lord of Harvest, let there be Joy and strength to work for Thee
Till the nations far and near See Thy light and learn Thy fear.
(The Lutheran Hymnal, 507:1, 3-4, 6)
