Hello NPCC Affiliate leaders:
The Native Plant Conservation Campaign has received a grant to help NPCC Affiliate groups do public outreach about native plant conservation, recruit new members and help get out the vote for the 2018 elections!
We are offering mini grants of up to $1000 to Affiliates for this project!
Would your organization be willing to help staff outreach tables at venues and events in your area?
NOTE: According to attorneys at the Endangered Species Coalition and the Alliance for Justice, 501c3 non profit corporations may “conduct nonpartisan get-out the-vote activities, voter registration, and education drives” under tax and election laws.
The project:
The goal of this project is to provide tools and funding to Affiliates to do public outreach, recruit new members and at the same time to begin to build an organized and visible movement of pro-environment and pro-science voters.
Candidates and elected officials traditionally have ignored and/or taken for granted voters who prioritize environmental issues. That must change if we are to have any chance of confronting the ongoing crises of mass extinction and climate change.
The Native Plant Conservation Campaign and our partners at the
Endangered Species Coalition have developed new resources for native plant outreach and advocacy, and for Affiliate groups to help Get Out The Vote in your local area.
NPCC will provide mini grants ($500-$1000) to help you
- distribute outreach materials about your organization and the Native Plant Conservation Campaign
- recruit new members for your organization
- register voters and
- collect endangered species voter pledges.
You can do this at venues such as
- Botanic Gardens
- Colleges
- Zoos/Aquaria
- High schools
And events such as
- Plant sales
- Fairs and festivals
- Scientific and other conferences
How do you sign up?
Affiliates should
(i)identify event(s) or venue(s) and
(ii)determine if they have members who are willing and able to do outreach, member sign up and use a tablet, laptop or cell phone to use the Get Out The Wild Vote portal.
This is an opportunity not only to support native plant conservation, native plant organizations, science and plants but also to help make a difference in one of the most important elections in history.
Please help us Get Out the Word and the Vote for Native Plants!
Thank you!
