Hello, Firstname

Wednesday 12 January

Next Wednesday we welcome Julian Baird to BPS with his talk called, How YouTube Enriched my Photography. Julian says the following about his talk:
"When I started publishing my landscape photography adventures on YouTube, I had no idea how much it would enrich and change my photography. Collaborations, opportunities, and friendships are just a few of the unexpected benefits of vlogging that have turned my solitary pastime into something I share with the world"

DI Zoom Meeting – Monday 10 January

A very Happy New Year to all.

A warm welcome to all BPS members, who are invited to join the next Digital Imaging Group meeting next Monday. With the current virus situation we are still meeting on Zoom in the warmth and comfort of your own home.

I hope you all had a good break over Christmas holidays and now, as the club competitions restart plus the Bristol Salon being open for entries, you will probably have a few images you might like to show to others in an informal atmosphere or invite comments on your images or have questions on aspects of photography. Please feel free to send your images for presentation to me as soon as possible.

Please send your images by Sunday 9 January, by 6 pm. Images: JPG format, sRGB colour space, 1600 x 1200 pixels (same as competitions but not strict), prefix filenames with 01, 02, 03 etc. if you wish to show them in that order. Email attachment size - max 20Mb per email.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Charity Event for MNDA
The following is self-explanatory:

Hi Bristol PS Members

This is Penny from Dorchester CC

One of our club members, Frances Undewood, has been a supporter of the Motor Neurone Disease Association for years but is now suffering from it herself and is very frail.

I have organised a Charity Event for MNDA with Camversation on Saturday 22nd January 10am-12.30

We have:
  • Bill Ward. https://billwardphotography.co.uk/
  • Jane and Stephen Lee who, as most of you will know, are excellent Landscape/nature photographers
  • Frances Underwood herself with Sally Sallett as her voice

There is also some voice-over that Frances has done herself with the aid of a voice Synthesiser. Some of her pictures she took while she was fit, in costume and a camera, during a Re-enactment  group for the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.

The talk does not have a ticket fee but donations are invited for MNDA.

My ambition is to “fill the Room for Frances” It is a 500 seat Zoom room! so with luck we should manage to do it and raise money for MNDA as well.

Please consider joining us and feel free to invite friends. What else is there on a winter Saturday morning? Get your ticket and enjoy a morning of photography.

Happy New Year to all Bristol  Members

Studio Workshop
I have received the following from BPS member, David Grierson:
Rory Lewis Workshop.
I have 1 place now available for a portrait workshop by Rory Lewis on 28 Jan. The 5 hour workshop takes place at his studio in London, covering lighting and classical posing of a subject. There will only be 4 of us in the workshop photographing an experienced model or actor.

This is a rare opportunity to take part in a workshop as Rory is fully booked in the UK until  2023.

Please have a look at www.rorylewis.studio. You will see that Rory has created portraits of many famous actors, celebrities, politicians and members of the Royal family.

Transport (apart from your tube ticket) is included.

Please contact me on mail@dgrierson.co.uk or 07977 023344 for final details.

Trumpet Bowers' Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue

Items For Sale
If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include it in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).

IMPORTANT: Personal Detail Changes
Please don't forget that if you change your address (home or email), or gain additional photographic distinctions, it would be appreciated if you could let the Membership Secretary know so that she can keep her records up to date, this will also ensure that you continue to receive your newsletters - please email all changes to membership@bristolphoto.org.uk

The distinctions we have on record are those shown at the top of this newsletter, please remember, if you don't tell us we can't possibly know!

Make Money For BPS Every Time You Shop On Amazon!
With the thought of on-line shopping still looming large in many members' minds. It's worth remembering that if you so wish, each and every one of you can support BPS with every purchase you make on Amazon by using Amazon Smile. Click on the link below – then it’s self-explanatory.
Shopping using Smile is no different to your normal Amazon shopping and costs you nothing, it's just that you need to tell it that you wish to use Smile and then we get some pennies!

Photographic Acronyms
