Building Buttercups

That's what Michelle Hinton's current project is all about. Her goal is to get The Ledyard High School Chamber Choir to Europe next spring.  Along with Kevin from O'Connor's Wine Cellar and numerous other volunteers, the dream quest is to eventually raise 100% of the cost of the trip for about 23 students. Michelle, is a proud mom to one of the singers and is very generous with her time. When she is not managing properties for Balfour Beatty, she is a tour guide for weekend bus tours or volounteering to help other committees.

To attend The Wine and Beer Tasting to benefit Ledyard High School Chamber Choir on Saturday night, November 7th from 6-8pm at the Gales Ferry Firehouse, you can buy a $20 ticket at O'Connor's Wine Cellar on Route 12 in Gales Ferry/purchase a ticket at the door and /or call (860) 460-1543 for more information.

Right In Our Own Backyard

Nick Checker is passionate about assisting aspiring writers developing their skills. On-air this weekend, he is passionate about being the writer. He has two published books to his credit:  Scratch- the chilling tale of loyalty, friendship and courage-set in the mysterioius world of feral cats, with allegories on how cultures are often misread and mistrust one another  and Druids. Nick provides us with insights into his process with enthusiasm as he shares his story from concept to publication.

To register for Nick's short story writing program, call the town of Groton Parks & Recreation at (860) 536-5680. This class is open to adults and teens and you don't have to be from Groton to participate.
Nick's books are available locally throughout southeastern CT at The Book Trader, Groton; Bank Square Books, Mystic; Book Barn, Niantic and The Slater Museum, Norwich.
