Thank you to those who
provided comment during our recent engagement on the draft Scotland
Island Traffic Management Plan (TMP). Following your feedback we’ve
revised the draft TMP, with the amendments below:
- vehicle weight for controlled access has been amended
from 2.5 tonne to 4.5 GVM
- stipulating a $40 fee per vehicle permit (for
vehicles on the island)
- inclusion of a sliding scale and/or bond for the
businesses using large vehicles to service the community.
You are invited to attend
an information session on the revised TMP:

ISLAND ROADWORKS – IMPORTANT REQUEST!
Pino and the crew have been
on the Island for a couple of weeks cleaning drains/pits, patching
roads with cold mix and maintaining/creating water bars.
Sadly, they must leave to carry out mainland work, but SIRA is
negotiating to have quarterly maintenance implemented from now
on. There are also upcoming scheduled Capital Works in the new
financial year at the intersection of Cecil Street and Richard Road to
improve drainage in that area.
The intersection of Hilda Avenue and Thompson Street has had some
surface maintenance using cold mix. The longevity of this surface
is dependent on vehicles not driving on it for a few days and also PLEASE DRIVE UP HILDA
AVENUE AND DOWN THOMPSON STREET NOT THE OTHER WAY!
This road is not in great shape and, until it can be scheduled for a
complete resurface, this one-way access should be maintained to avoid
further deterioration and any subsequent road closure. The wheels
of vehicles spinning on the road as they get traction up the hill from
Thompson Street is what creates further damage.
Council has advised that the
new Waste Calendars are due to be delivered at the beginning of
July. These will be left at all wharves for residents to collect
and SIRA will have some spares on hand.
The dates for collections are as follows:
BULKY GOOD CLEAN UP – WEEK
COMMENCING SEPTEMBER 2ND
GARDEN ORGANICS – WEEK
COMMENCING SEPTEMBER 30TH
residents who have material out on the road verge..
PLEASE remove onto
your property until collection time arrives to prevent the visual
pollution that it creates for everyone!!
Material should only be
placed out the WEEK PRIOR to collection.
