Each week, 10 Philadelphia-area musicians arrive in the parking lot of an old warehouse on York Street where, one by one, they unload their classic tube amps and vintage gear. They ascend the freight elevator and make their way down the hall where the classic sounds of the 1960s are reinvigorated, reenergized and reborn. Legends, like Stevie, Aretha and the Four Tops, as well as lesser-known artists including Gloria Jones, Arthur Conley and Betty Everett are represented. Their repertoire spans over 50 songs including more than a decade worth of Detroit, Memphis and Chicago soul.

With what started in 2010 as a basement experiment inspired by a subway busker, the York Street Hustle has gone from filling tiny South Street bars to capacity to selling out World Cafe Live for their first-ever Holiday Spectacular. With the emergence of contemporary soul artists like Adele, Amy Winehouse and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, the band's appeal transcends generations. This is not your typical Motown "wedding band." With grit, sweat, and attention to detail, The York Street Hustle is the Northeast's premier soul tribute ensemble.

As always, RUBA's downstairs cabaret bar is open from Friday-Sunday 9pm-3:30am.
