In The Spotlight:

Added to the park in 1979 Rolling Thunder was the biggest addition to the park in the five seasons since it opened, introducing what would be the park's biggest roller coaster for the following decade as well as the new Hernando's Hideaway themed area.

For one season the trains on the inside track were turned around to run backwards as "Rednuht Gnillor", a short lived variation on the racing experience.

Over time the once massive coaster has been dwarfed by new state of the art coasters, but the ride continues to be a favorite for families after more than thirty seasons.
