Ascension Day
Ephesians 1:22 God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church.
ASCENSION TRUTHS: HE'S IN CONTROL!
Are you a control freak? Are you the guy who always has to be behind the wheel? Or the woman who just has to set the agenda for the family reunion? Or the one who decides for everyone what game will be played and how it will be played?
Most of us have a hard time dealing with those who try to be too controlling. Yet all of us long to know that things are under control. We want to know that there's a rhyme and reason to what's going on in the world and in our lives.
At present so much seems to be out of control. The economy. The government. Morals. The family structure. Also in our personal lives there are times when all appears to be unraveling at the seams. Many people are shaking their heads, wondering what is going on. Maybe you're one of them.
It's time to take a deep breath! It's time to look up and remember our ascended Savior! It's time to relax and realize that Jesus is still in control!
Jesus took charge of our sins when He died on Calvary's cross. Our sins are powerless now to destroy us.
Jesus took control of our death when He left His tomb alive on Easter morning. Death can no longer hurt us.
Jesus now rules at His Father's right hand over all things. We have His promise that all things in the world and in our lives must serve for the everlasting good of His redeemed people.
Take a deep breath. Now exhale. The God who loves you and died for you is in control. There's no need to try to control our lives, or fight our own battles, or make up for own sins, or face death by ourselves. Leave all that to Jesus where it belongs. In these trying times all things are still under His loving control.
