“Authors Connecting” is one of the programs Tropicalfete has planned on its calendar of activities. This is an important event that is part of Caribbean-American Heritage Month.  The program is designed to emphasize the importance of literacy and how culture can influence education as well as ones perspective on world events.  It is an interactive event where children celebrate our unique Caribbean culture through reading and meeting authors.  Authors Connecting will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Barnes & Noble, Park Slope, 267 7th Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, 11215 at 3.00pm and will be hosted by New York City School Teacher Tanisha Burke.

An accomplished Caribbean author, Tammie Paige will have an interactive reading session with the attendees. Miss Tropical Paradise, Marsha Thompson will be speaking about Maya Angelou American revered author & poet.  Maya Angelou is a publisher of autobiographies, books of essays, & several books of poetry and is also credited with a list of plays, movies, & television shows.  Miss Thompsons will also educate the audience about Maya Angelou’s Caribbean roots.

This year Tropicalfete has added a new component to the cultural reading program to educate the audience about Caribbean heroes. The St. Lucia Consulate will be highlighting the work of St. Lucia’s Nobel Laureate, Derek Alton Walcott.

Tropicalfete has taken a giant step forward by start to write a Children Book about their presentation for the West Indian America Carnival Day Parade with the Presentation of the theme “Masquerade Ball Caribbean Edition”.  The Book will be in the form of dance and mas as well as it is a series of short stories written and produced by Tropicalfete Inc. in collaboration with Renee Skeete, Jason Edwards, Daria Primus, Nathifa Cox, Gillia Satenay, Marcus Luke, Keran Deterville and Alton Aimable.
