If this is your first "Principal's Note," welcome home!

We held the 9-11 grade class meetings today. In addition to the introductory meetings, 9th grade received what is now known as "The Talk." That basically means that Mr. Moon and I speak to the boys while Mrs. Wenk speaks to the girls. We cover things like the changes taking place between freshmen boys and freshmen girls the pitfalls that can bring. The kids were great throughout the day. Tomorrow we host the 12th grade.

MSTEP and SAT scores were released today. We are happy with our improvement especially with respect to the SAT. We have some work to do on the MSTEP science scores but we also offer Agricultural Science as an alternative to Chemistry (per State of Michigan). Many of our students choose to take Ag. Science over chemistry and that is detrimental to our MSTEP science scores. The knowledge gained in Chemistry class is really helpful on the MSTEP. We have the data on that issue and are working through the test scores versus student needs versus public perception triangle. I remember the days when we only had to worry about what was best for each child! I know. I am old.

The school is starting to get back into the routine. Many sleepy kids. Tomorrow will be the worst for sleepy kids and then it should get better each day.

This is the start of cold season. Many new germs get exchanged between the kids. Please remind your student to wash their hands frequently and before lunch. It really does help cut down on colds.
