Cabbage Night-- Save The Date

All the material is good-natured, there'll be plenty of laughing and music, but it's halloween, so prepare to be scared, especially in the second half of the show. Here's a taste of what's coming.

We will be telling the Brothers Grimm classic, The Juniper Tree. It's one of our best pieces, haunting, by turns sad, haunting, and disturbingly funny, with a very satisfying conclusion.

It was one of JRR Tolkien's favorites, he said it was "a tale of beauty and horror" (both of which he knew something about.) Booklist called our version "murderous and magical." Well a trip all on its own, especially if you haven't heard it.

We expect to debut our current work-in-progress.

The title's not set, we may ask you vote, or suggest a new one. Right now we're divided between "The Gypsy Soldier" and "The Vampire Princess." A sardonic tale, with a real eastern European vampire in it, and a guy in the army who really wants to get out.

Tim will surely tell at least one classic jump tale-- possibly a really good, bullet-proof version of "The Golden Arm" that he learned 20 years ago from a little girl in Chester, who had it from her auntie. If everybody's heard heard him do it already (it's hard to keep track of this stuff after all these years) he'll do something completely different.
