Zaterdag 6 april 11u: opening boulevard Scheveningen: Fotoroute 'Zeespiegel'

Zondag 7 april 15 u: opening 'Stellingname - water, land & innoverend erfgoed' in Kunstfort te Vijfhuizen

Op 6 april om 11.00 uur opent minister Schultz van Haegen officieel de boulevard. Dit gebeurt in de Beeldentuin ter hoogte van het museum Beelden aan Zee.

Dat is tevens het moment dat de Fotoroute ‘Zeespiegel’ compleet is. Tussen Museum Beelden aan Zee en de haven zijn verspreid over 5 kiosken in totaal 14 grote lichtbakken voorzien van een permanente en openbare fototentoonstelling over Scheveningen en de zee. Deze Fotoroute ‘Zeespiegel’ is samengesteld door stichting Satellietgroep. De ‘Zeespiegel’ is tot stand gekomen met bijdragen van bewoners, kustexperts en internationale kunstenaars die nieuw werk over de zee maakten bij BADGAST op surfdorp F.A.S.T. De kiosken zijn vernoemd naar karakteristieke Scheveningers die filosoof Bram Esser interviewde en beschreef voor elke kiosk. Studio Duel verzorgde de vormgeving. Met dank aan de gemeente Den Haag en Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Zuid-Holland.

One of the results of the artist in residency program Badgast is 'Zeespiegel - Mirror on the Sea'. As the work on the new boulevard of Scheveningen/The Hague is finished this spring, the public photo exhibition is completed. May 2012 we opened the first part of the 'Zeespiegel'. Composed by Satellietgroep with artworks of 25 artists in residence of Badgast, locals en professionals. Contributions about innovative coastal protection, including the Sand Engine, complete the tales about our relationship with the sea and make them accessible to everyone.

Postcard: bewoner Karel Kulk fotografeerde Chielie den Heijer-van der Zwan, bij velen bekend als de jongste klederdrachtdragende vrouw van Scheveningen. Chielie poseert hier op de sokkel van het monument van De Scheveningse Vissersvrouw voordat het monument werd teruggeplaatst.

Satellietgroep is guestcurator of 'Stellingname - water, land and innovative heritage' at Kunstfort Vijfhuizen, part of World Heritage 'Stelling of Amsterdam' April 7 - June 23, 2013.

Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen opent het lenteseizoen met Stellingname. Een manifestatie waarin kunstenaars, lokale kenners en wetenschappers samenwerken om nieuwe posities te ontwikkelen in onze omgang met water, land en innoverend erfgoed.

OPENING: 7 april 2013 door Sjaak Langenberg over 'Veldbedden in de polder'. Alle kunstenaars zijn aanwezig.

PROJECTEN: ‘Ik wil inpolderen!’ door ontwerper Francois Lombarts; ‘Grenslandschappen’ door stedenbouwkundigen Jan de Graaf & Robert Schütte; ‘Brak Water, Zilt Land. Zoutbelasting of de prijs van het inpolderen’ door landschapsarchitect Ronald Boer; ‘Vloeibaar Land’ door kunstenaar Jacqueline Verhaagen; ‘Mapping Deltaland’ door kunstenaar Marjolijn Boterenbrood; ‘Dwaaltochten door Schiphol’ door schrijvend filosoof Bram Esser; de installatie 'Vloei - Flow I' door kunstenaar Bram Vreven; 'Poldermaaltijd' door PeerGrouP, milieudeskundige Henri Alles en kok Elles Kiers.

Satellietgroep explores through arts and culture how the sea and waterways influence cities, people, communities and environments. Our aim is to enhance public and professional awareness on coastal transitions.

Satellietgroep programs Badgast since 2009 for exchange of local knowledge on a global level. Badgast is a research based artist in residence program, outdoor Cinema with screenings and Talks, all concerning the sea and waterways. Badgast is located in the middle of the surfing village FAST, the Urban Beach Community at the hinge point of the boulevard and harbour in The Hague at Scheveningen. We invite international artists and scientists to jointly develop and present research articulating a cultural, innovative and sustainable significance of the sea and its coasts by doing on-site research, engage with local communities, collaborate with local experts and connect to international networks. We interconnect coastal communities by connecting contemporary research and new works to historic and future coastal developments.

During the residency period new works – both conceptual and documentary - are developed that reflect upon the complex and layered coastal transitions and urban developments. With these works they contribute to the international contemporary collection on coastal transitions of Satellietgroep to be shared with broader audiences.

The cultural exchange project 'Now Wakes The Started' (NWTS) started in 2012 with the collaboration with European Cultural Association/Europist (TR) in the context of 'Sinopale 4, International Sinop Biennial' and the celebration of NLTR400 in 2012. Summer 2012 Maurice Bogaert, Bahanur Nasya and Yilmaz Vurucu were artists in residents for NWTS in Sinop on the Turkish coast of the Black Sea and in The Hague at the coast of the North Sea. The program resulted in a documentary and two conceptual videoworks, public screenings, artist talks, lectures and workshops in Sinop, Amsterdam, Vlieland, Belgium, The Hague and the exhibition at Siemens Sanat Istanbul, with contributions by Dutch and Turkish artists and filmmakers.
