All creation groans… waiting for sons of God to be revealed – A tale of two buildings!

Dear Friends,

The Prayer House continues to make progress, though it’s a little slow at the moment. But that will change next week when the electrician comes to wire up the house, and the plumber comes to install the water and drainage systems.

The Prayer House is a half-finished building, but we’re so conscious that we too are half-finished buildings!

As I (Cathy) was looking out of the window of our prayer room in our little house, the Lord drew my attention to the view, which is of two buildings – the gates of Auschwitz-Birkenau and our super new Prayer House.

Then I felt the Lord say, “One house is a house of victims… but what is the other house going to be?

At the moment that house is half-built. Is it going to be a house for the sons of God to rise up, with faith, knowing Me, their Father, and knowing who they are, being led by My Spirit to take dominion?”

We all have a choice. Will we pray like sons of God or will we fall short of the calling and reflect the house of victims, feeling powerless, praying out of fear, hoping our prayers will be heard?

The Bible says that the earth GROANS, waiting for the sons of God to be revealed.

Is this house going to be birthed in the Spirit of Sonship, where we cry “Abba, Father”, or in a spirit of slavery that gives way to fear?

That was the challenge.

At about the same time the Lord spoke to me through the story of Cain and Abel. You know the story. Two brothers each give their offering to the Lord. The Lord looks with favour upon Abel’s offering, but doesn’t think much of Cain’s.

Life is not fair! Sometimes we receive favour, sometimes we don’t. Sometimes we get it right, sometimes we don’t. But that’s not the point here…

The point is – HOW ARE WE GOING TO RESPOND?

God said to Cain, “Don’t you know that if you do what is right, all will go well with you?”

Cain had a choice, and so do we. We can either stay where we are, feel sorry for ourselves, have a pity party, and remain a victim. Or we can respond, like Cain did, get angry and even become a perpetrator. But for those of us who are believers in Jesus, there is another way – we can turn to Abba and ask, “Abba, show me what it is to be a Son of God in this situation.” Every difficult situation is an opportunity for promotion!

The Lord seems to have me on a special discipleship training course at the moment. He keeps highlighting my victim-responses in different situations. But as He does that, I become conscious that Holy Spirit is right here showing me the alternative, how to respond as a son of God.

We’re all half-built houses.

We’re not living as complete victims anymore. We’re not living as we used to live, but we’re not living in complete dominion either. Do we want to continue living as half-built houses? I don’t! So, we will continue to allow God to keep building and transforming us until we reach the likeness of the Son of God.

For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Romans 8:29)

+++ SELAH +++

We’ve been so blessed recently with a trip to Germany and lots of visitors who have come to see us here by Auschwitz-Birkenau.

We were invited to join an Israel Prayer Day in Germany, so we drove the 5½-hour journey from Poland into Saxony and were so blessed by our Saxony friends, by their hospitality, fellowship and love. We were able to share some of our testimony, hopefully as an encouragement to them, God’s heart and plan for Auschwitz-Birkenau, and to call forth the sons of God!

In the last two months we have had three groups from Germany and other visitors from the UK, Switzerland, USA and Israel. They have come to pray, to worship, to minister to the Polish people, to encourage and to impart to us too!

With so many of these visitors, the Lord seems to be underlining the importance of the creative arts in worship. This theme came up over and over again. They came bearing gifts of books on the creative arts, prints of prophetic art, anointed silk banners and one powerful original painting for the Prayer House. We had song writers, artists and worshippers – each one was special and only the Lord knows all that they deposited here! Thank you to those of you who came!

Building Update

Finally, here’s a quick update on the building and the progress so far this year.

All the internal walls were completed in January. The top floor ceiling was built – the part over the bedrooms (not the part over the Prayer Room, because there the ceiling goes up into the apex of the roof and will be done later). When you look up at the ceiling, there’s no plasterboard yet. Just wooden beams and fibreglass insulation. The plasterboard (“dry wall” for those of you in America) will be put up later, after the walls have been plastered.

Then the attic was built – that’s the room above the bedrooms – it’s floor, walls and ceiling.

After the Attic

This attic room will be used to house 2 massive ventilation units, that will circulate fresh air to every room in the house.

The Prayer Room

In March, the water was connected – about 80 meters of pipe, 1.6 meters under the ground, from just outside the house where we live into the basement of the Prayer House. It doesn’t sound like much, but getting the water connected was a very big deal.

It was fraught with difficulties. As we were staring at all of these problems, we saw the Lord step in and take over. He organised circumstances and people, and put all these little things in place… And suddenly everything was resolved. It was beautiful to watch, like a dance choreographed from heaven! Afterwards we wondered and thought, “God, how did you do that?”

So where do we go from here?

The next big, big step is to plaster the walls, which we’ve scheduled for June. That’s about 1700 square metres of walls and ceilings that needs to be plastered – quite a task – but before that can happen, we have to install all the electrical wiring, as well as the water and drainage systems. These contracts will both start at the end of April and run through most of May.

Finally, here is a very short video (18 secs) looking down on the Prayer House towards Auschwitz-Birkenau.

We wish you much shalom and joy in the Holy Spirit.

With love and blessings,
Mark & Cathy
