Congratulations to Fran Botts of Norfolk, VA!
Her Hip Bag Hybrid was the very 1st of that design to win our monthly contest! Patti wins a $25.00 SKD virtual gift certificate and a permanent place of honor in our Handbag Gallery. Click here to see her beautiful entry!

So...are you ready to see this month's entries?

This incredible SideKick was created by Julie Willis of Kingsport, TN. She said she had a LOT of fun making it! Click HERE to see the dropdown checkbook section and HERE to see the built-in wallet.

Donna Lucas-Mudd of Santa Cruz, CA calls this her "Tribal" DittyRoo. She used fabric from the "Folklorica" fabric line of Julie Paschkis! I like the embellishment Donna added above the front pockets. It enhances the "tribalness", doesn't it!

And here's an awesome Guardian created by Veronica Johnson. She hails from Tasmania, Australia and she's a contest veteran.

Patti Foley says she loves the Quattro design. And even though the Quattro has LOTS of exterior pockets, Patti added even more to the interior! She kept this bag for herself, no surprise there!

And Marty Campbell of Emmett, ID created this Wrapsody for her daughter. She added a nice key fob to keep track of her keys and here's a peek at the incredibly organized interior :)

And evidently I'm not the only one who favors a purple and green color scheme. This beautiful Quattro was created by Beth Stanfield of Durham, NC who said a friend of hers bought this wonderful batik for her during an annual field trip!

And Mary Collett says she LOVES her new HipBag Hybrid, and if I didn't already know that Mary was from Florida, that would be where I would guess she was from based on this color scheme! Looks GREAT, Mary!

This wavy Wrapsody was submitted by Karin de Jong of Australia, who says she like bright colors and groovy, retro designs and this fabric certainly fits the bill! And here's a peek at the INSIDE!

Linda Slusar of Winfield, Il entered this summery Quattro. She affectionately calls this bag "Hydrangeas" which is quite appropriate, no?!

OK, ready to vote now?

Quilts are hot — and not just for keeping toasty at night. The humble linen has evolved into an art form that's as likely to be displayed on a wall as on a bed. "It's pretty broad, from the extreme fine arts world to the grassroots," says Ricky Tims, one of the world's top fiber artists. The art form celebrates Quilt Week, one of its biggest annual events, April 23-26 in Paducah, Ky. Tims shares favorite places to see this "soft art" with Larry Bleiberg for USA TODAY, so click HERE and see how many of these "hallowed" places YOU'VE visited!

Monthly Trivia-
Today is Tuesday, the 11th day of August 2015, and did you know that there are only 141 days remaining in the year! WOW! 2015 is flying by, isn't it?  And did you know that it was also on this day in 1950 that someone was born who literally changed ALL of our lives in a permament way! That's because Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple Computers was born on this day in 1950.
He shares his special day with Viola Davis who is celebrating one of those "significant" birthdays today (her 50th)! And if today is also YOUR birthday, then here's a great big "Happy Birthday to YOU" from all of us here at StudioKat Designs, and if today is NOT your birthday, you might consider celebrating this day by enjoying one of Viola's films on your computer, an option we couldnt even dream was possible before Steve introduced us to personal computers! My favorite is The Help and here's the trailer! :)

Well, that's it for now, so until next month, remember!
It's a GREAT day to be sewing!
