	CAR SHARE for Church Point
	Do you want to be involved in a cheap, convenient and easy way to help reduce our parking stress at Church Point? No, we’re not suggesting you give up the convenience and flexibility of having a car whenever you need it. We’re suggesting a car share scheme – a pool of shared cars with guaranteed parking spaces at Church Point. It’s cheaper, greener and less hassle than owning a car. (See outline below). Would you be interested in joining such a scheme? If so, we need to know so we can approach Pittwater Council with a viable case for setting up a scheme at Church Point (and possibly Mona Vale). We are currently researching various models, including several commercial schemes, aiming to find the best scheme for our community. What Is “Car Share”? You join the Car Share scheme. You book via the web or by phone In advance or at the last minute For as long as you like: an hour, a day or a week Option of reduced rate hire cars for longer periods Unlock the car with a security key or card Drive wherever you like. Return car to a guaranteed parking spot (subject to council approval) What are the benefits? 60% -40% cheaper than owning a car (figure derived from other schemes) Able to get rid of your car or second car, and have the money back. Have a guaranteed parking space at Church Point day, night and weekends!!! plus potentially guaranteed parking in Mona Vale) Use new cars which are safe and fuel efficient. Reduce your environmental footprint. Have a range of vehicles to choose from eg small car, station wagon, people mover or ute etc (in other schemes they are all available at the same rate) You DO NOT PAY for Purchase, Petrol, Insurance, Rego, repairs or cleaning or hassle time. They ARE ALL INCLUDED. Potential to remove 5-10 cars from the car park per car in the car share scheme (based on experience of other commercial schemes) How much does it Cost? Average costs (based on other schemes) of between $4.50 and $7.00 per hour plus between 25ç-37ç per KM (depending on level of membership). Don’t forget you are now not paying all those “hidden” costs for owning a car. So a typical trip to Mona Vale for 2 hours would be about $12.50. ) Pay between $45.00 to $70.00 per day including up to 150km free. This compares to about $45.00- $50.00 per hour for a taxi.
