1 Corinthians 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.
CHRIST'S RESURRECTION MAKES CHRISTIANS THE MOST ENVIABLE GROUP ON EARTH
If Christ is in the grave, you are a sucker. You're one of the biggest saps around. The few minutes that it takes to read this devotion would be one of the smaller wastes of your time. You no doubt have dedicated thousands of hours to worship. You have given thousands and thousands of dollars to the support of Gospel preaching and Christian education. You have altered your lifestyle for the sake of Jesus. Yes, if Jesus is still in the grave you have dedicated your life and made such sacrifices for nothing. It would be pitiable if Jesus were just for this life.
But ... Christ is risen from the dead. While the world may still think that you're a sucker, you are to be envied. You have hope. You have comfort. You can go to bed each night knowing that if you don't wake up in the morning, you'll wake up in heaven. Your conscience is clear knowing that Jesus died and rose again for your forgiveness. Day by day you can deal with failure and disappointment knowing that there is more than this life to consider. What would be a devastating blow to an unbeliever merely glances off of you because you know of Jesus' resurrection and your own eventual resurrection. You don't get caught up in the cares of this life because you are focused on what lasts forever.
Since Christ is risen from the dead you are most blessed. Don't envy others. You have what everyone would desire: a living Savior.
