STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF STEVE MACDONOGH
 
19 November 2010 - Publishing Ireland is greatly saddened by the death of author and publisher Steve MacDonogh.
 
Jean Harrington, President of Publishing Ireland said:
 
“On behalf of the members of Publishing Ireland, I extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to Steve’s family, friends and colleagues. He was a visionary publisher, a talented author and a lovely man. His contribution to Irish publishing and literature cannot be overstated. He will be greatly missed by many."
 
Mr. MacDonogh founded Brandon Books in 1982. As Editorial Director of Brandon Books – Mount Eagle Publications he published seminal books by Alice Taylor, Gerry Adams, Ken Bruen, Walter Macken and other noted authors. As author he wrote several non-fiction books, including Barack Obama: The Road from Moneygall and Open Book: One Publisher's War, which chronicles his campaign for change to Ireland’s libel laws.
 
Mr. MacDonogh also served as President of CLÉ – the Irish Book Publishers’ Association (now Publishing Ireland).
