John 12:3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair.
HOW MUCH IS JESUS WORTH?
A week before His death, Jesus gathered for supper with His friends at the village of Bethany. Among those present were Lazarus (whom Jesus had raised from the dead) and his sisters, Mary and Martha.
Suddenly Mary poured a pint of pure nard on Jesus' feet and wiped it dry with her hair, immediately drawing a cry from Judas, the disciple who would betray the Lord. The oil with which Mary had anointed her Savior would be worth some $30,000 in today's money.
Was Jesus really worth that much, or was Mary a bit over-generous that night?
Consider the day of His burial which was coming. Consider the suffering before the crowd and before Pilate; the walk toward Golgotha. Consider the agony and the thirst as He was dying. Most of all, consider the separation from God He endured in those hours of darkness. Consider that without Christ, you would have been the one abandoned by the Father. I think we would all sing with Johann Crueger, "Jesus, Priceless Treasure."
