BPS Website Update
You may have noticed recently that it has not been possible to enter the Members' Area on the club website, this has been because there has been a security update by the company hosting the website (so secure that they omitted to tell us!). This has meant a slight change to the password required to access the area, instead of the previous 5 character password, pixel, we have had to increase this to a 6 character password. So after spending hours slaving over coding manuals trying to work out how this could be done, I've come up with a cunning solution and added an "s" to it - the log in details are now:

User name - chatroom (no change)
Password - pixels

These are both case sensitive, so make sure you type them in lower case.

Bristol Doors Open Day 2014
Bristol Doors Open Day is a once-a-year chance to look behind closed doors and discover the city’s hidden treasures, this is an extract from their website "You can explore fascinating buildings, join guided tours and enjoy a range of events and activities – all free for the day. With over 60 venues taking part this year – the event’s 21st birthday – join us for a fantastic celebration of Bristol’s history, architecture and culture.Very good to meet you yesterday. Just to follow up, there are 3 ways in which Bristol Photographic Society might like to get involved in Bristol Doors Open Day, which this year takes place on Sat 13 September (more info www.bristoldoorsopenday.org)"

The Architecture Centre on Narrow Quay is organising this year's event and they are looking for photographers to record the event. Below is part of an email Derek Ripper received from them following his visit to them recently when they agreed to promote our Photography Course:

"There are 3 ways in which Bristol Photographic Society might like to get involved in Bristol Doors Open Day, which this year takes place on Sat 13 September (more info www.bristoldoorsopenday.org).

1 Spread the word to your members and hope they will take part and enjoy the day – it’s all free and there are over 60 venues open.

2 Encourage members to take their own photographs and share e.g. via Instagram (#BristolDOD), Twitter

3 We are looking for 3-4 volunteers who might like to act as ‘official’ photographers and take photos that we can subsequently use in publicity and marketing. We are particularly keen to get more ‘people’ shots, though photographers will have to be prepared to obtain permission using our standard form. These photographers would work to a brief (to ensure no doubling up of venues etc) – ideally attending a short briefing meeting in the week before the event, but this could be done by email. Interested people should get in touch with me and indicate if they have a preferred area (eg Clifton, south Bristol, central etc.), and how much time they can contribute.

The Architecture Centre has taken over organising this event this year and we are very keen to capture the essence of the day, which will help us develop it for the future!"
