WHARF EXTENSIONS FUNDED!
Council
secured funding from Transport - Roads & Maritime Services
for funding towards the costs of improvements to Carols Wharf and Bell
Wharf.
The SIRA committee is extremely pleased to announce that we have
secured another win for our community. Although a detailed design is
yet to be done, we expect that the works will be in line with the
proposals submitted by SIRA last year. They are expected to deliver:
- 30 new commuter boat tie-ups at Bell Wharf
- 38 new commuter boat tie-ups at Carols Wharf
The legwork for this was done by the Wharves Working Group under
leadership of Alec Beckett. Well done to all!
SIRA will start talks with Council on the timing and details of the
work next month. The funding deal stipulates that the works are
completed before the end of 2019 and of course we hope for a much
earlier delivery.

Scotland Island Kindy
Community Garden/ Fencing Extension
Dear all,
The children, parents and staff of the Scotland Island Kindy are very
excited to present you with our plans for a new sustainable community
garden.
As you may have noticed, the Northern Beaches Council has this summer
replaced the Kindy’s old fencing, and we thought this would be the
perfect opportunity to extend the fence to the corner of the building
so that we could make the most of what is currently unused space in the
park.
Our dream is to turn it, with the children’s active participation, into
a beautiful community garden for all to enjoy and, should you wish,
also be involved in developing/ gardening.
A Master Plan of the layout will be available in a couple of weeks, but
in the meantime you can head down to Catherine Park and check out the
proposed new layout of the fencing.
This is a once in a decade opportunity as council workers are waiting
and eager to start, having already completed the first part of the
fencing. Catherine Park is of course a public park for the enjoyment of
all, and your support and partnership in this project would be greatly
appreciated. If you have any questions, please let us know in the
comments section below before
Monday 22 January, or contact us directly.
Once the fencing has been put in place, we will be in touch again with
drawings of the space and proposed layout of garden, for your input,
along with a long-term project management plan.
On behalf of our children, thank you!
The Scotland Island Kindy Staff & Committee

It is a ‘franchise’, where you bring your own sketch/film/whatever, and
I pull them together so they all appear on the stage on the same night
(ideally), but not the same time.
Just have an idea? Come along and explore possibilities!

A big thank-you to everyone
that helped save my boat on Sunday
Living here on Scotland Island you really do see, hear of and
experience little acts of kindness on a regular if not a daily basis,
but the winds on Sunday really showed the Community spirit and
willingness of residents to help others even if they don’t know who
they are helping.
My little tinny was tied up (and locked) at Cargo pontoon and took the
brunt of the strong winds resulting in the engine guard being ripped
off leaving two significant holes in the transom well below the water
line. Luckily quick thinking and action by those on the spot when
it happened resulted in my boat being saved and pulled up onto the
beach out of harms way, if looking a little sorry for itself.
I know this task would not have been easy (bolt cutters were required
just to release the boat from the pontoon and the amount of bailing is
something I certainly can’t even imagine) and I don’t even know
everyone that helped… so this is my BIG THANK-YOU to everyone, however
small a part you played… Gillian thanks for running up my 80 steps as
you recognised it was my boat and Amy for posting on Facebook to get
help… I think it was Andree that we bumped into on the way down to
Cargo and I’m sure there were others that I was too shell shocked to
thank properly or catch your names…
Thank-you all again

Yamaha 15hp engine, with fuel tank
Well looked after and it starts easily BUT it has gone under twice and
it is getting old (though I’m not sure of the year. Serial number 15FMH
684K S 105039 S J). $400.
Good for a small tinny, and its worth the price in parts alone.
