STRANGERS WE KNOW AT BOOKSHOP WEST PORTAL

On November 30, 2006 at 8 PM, BookShop West Portal in San Francisco will partner with Word for Word, the Bay Area's acclaimed theatre group, to present a sneak preview of the world premiere of Word for Word's Strangers We Know. The company's cast will read from a story by Mavis Gallant about a proper and lonely French widow who, in taking a look at her exotic tenant, reveals a changing Paris and the power of hope. It has been said of Gallant and her work: Like buried treasure, both the author and her writing are to discover.
