Island Cafe
Dear Cafe Fiends,
There has been a distinct lack of caffeine in the park for the last two
Sundays, so we have taken the brave decision to OPEN this week, despite
fierce debates about the forecasted weather. If it is really
really pelting it down, we may have to close, but otherwise, we can all
shelter on the kindy deck.
Fantastic coffee will be served hot, along with a selection of homemade
cakes, including the kiddies’ fave, banana bread.
Don’t forget your mug! And if you do, discounted “Keep Cups”
are on sale – the sensation that is taking the city by storm.

See you there!

Come and help Anne Palmer
celebrate an exploration of art!
Thanks to Marion van den Driesschen's Saturday art classes on the

first exhibition of works during the 3rd weekend of June.
- Saturday 19th and Sunday 29th June
- 10 am to 5 pm
- At Ki In Harmony Studios, 1/5 Hilltop Road,
Clareville
The
exhibition is titled "Re-Pose" and explores different renditions of two

Free Forum for Separated Dads
A
free forum hosted by Relationships Australia is being held on Wednesday
9 June for fathers who have separated from their partners.
The forum is between 7.45pm and 9pm at the Tramshed Community Centre,
Berry Reserve Narrabeen.
Pittwater
Mayor Harvey Rose said fathers often lacked the support networks that
mothers benefited from when relationships broke down.
“Some men’s tendency is to suppress their feelings which can lead to
anger and depression,” he said.
“Research
shows that the suicide rate in Australia among separated fathers is 6
times higher than for those who are not separated.”*
Mayor
Rose said the forum was aimed at newly separated fathers who were
redefining their relationship with their children and former partner.
Topics
covered at the forum include reducing conflict between separating
parents; improving children’s wellbeing during separation and
maintaining your involvement in your children’s lives.
The
forum will be presented by Bill Hewlett, a counsellor with
Relationships Australia. Bill says counselling organisations have
previously tended to approach the issue of divorce from a female
perspective.
"Men find that the only processes they're offered
to deal with …. are ones that are alien to them – to sit down and have
a chat over a cup of tea."
But things have changed for the
better he says. "Separated men should take the risk with organisations
that they suspect will be unsympathetic because they might turn out to
be more sympathetic than they think.”
To book a place at the forum phone Robyn or Anne at Relationships
Australia on 9981 9779.
