Immediate release:

CHILDREN AND PARENTS IN COUNTY ROSCOMMON CELEBRATE
THE LAUNCH OF  ‘CHANGED: A BOOK ABOUT THE WORLD’

Roscommon Library, 11am-12pm, Thursday, 25th March 2010

Children and parents from three communities in County Roscommon will come together next Thursday to launch their very own publication, Changed: A book about the world, made in collaboration with Kids’ Own Publishing Partnership.

This event is the culmination of six months’ work which saw parents and children from Lisacul, Loughglynn and Elphin come together to creatively explore themes of change alongside writer Mary Branley and artist Niamh O'Connor.

Imagine being on a roller coaster, travelling 73 miles an hour down a 90 degree drop, and you get some idea of the speed of change that has occurred in three rural communities in County Roscommon” says writer Mary Branley.

The project was generously supported by Roscommon VEC and Roscommon County Library Service, who are hosting the launch in their central library next week.

Richie Farrell, County Librarian at Roscommon County Library Service, will launch the publication.

The event will also include readings from children of their work and an exhibition of the original art work from the project.
