Romans 5:6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
PERFECT TIMING
The other night our family was eating supper at a local restaurant. We ordered our meals and my wife and I began visiting together. All of a sudden I said, "It sure is taking a long time for our food to come!" She looked at her watch and said, "We've only been here ten minutes." I realized I had gotten a little impatient.
Sometimes we get impatient with God too when He doesn't deliver at the very moment we think He should. We want blessing from Him, but if it isn't found on our doorstep by the time of the morning mail, we hang our heads in despair and frustration.
Yet God knows the right time to give us everything we need. He surely knew exactly when to send His Son to the world as a guilt offering! In a verse that echoes of Galatians 4:4, the Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans that "at just the right time ... Christ died for the ungodly." It was divine plan that determined when those thorns would be placed on Jesus' head. It was divine plan that determined when He would be led out to the Place of the Skull and crucified.
Can you argue with God's timing? It really was perfect, wasn't it? When you needed Him most, Jesus delivered. When you could not escape the just punishment of hell for your sins, Jesus stepped in and accepted the torment for you. When you could not do one thing to bring yourself closer to God, Jesus stretched out His arms and reconciled you to the Father by the shedding of His own blood. When you were rotting in the grip of your sinful flesh-- it was then that Jesus died for you. Yes, when you needed it most, the greatest blessing of all was given to you! Perfect timing!
