 "Handbag of the Month" Gallery-
Congratulations to Jackie Abel of Watertown, SD!
Her "impressive" Quattro was the deserving winner in our November Handbag of the Month contest! Jackie wins a $25.00 SKD virtual gift certificate and a permanent place of honor in our Handbag Gallery. Click here to see her beautiful entry!

BUT...December is traditionally a special month for us!
Because we reserve December for our annual
"Battle of the 2nds"
We've rounded up all of our 2nd place finishers from 2015 & we're giving them one last chance to have centerstage, so without further delay, check out this month's nominees, then cast a vote for a bag that you thought really should have WON the first time around!
(For BIGGER images: Click on each individual pic)

This spectacularly pieced Quattro by Diane Rhodes of Monroeville, PA was our 2nd place finisher in Jan. Doesn't our polka-dotted zipper look fabulous with this bag & I especially love that Diane took the time to piece the BACKside!!!

And isn't this Wrapsody breathtaking? It was created by Lies Bos-Varkevisser of the Netherlands & came in 2nd place in February. Here's a peek at the inside. All in all, I'd say these were excellent fabric choices and very meticulous sewing! Great Job! :)

And in March, Gretchen McClain has her Porta-PocketsPLUS Purse Insert loaded and ready to organize! She chose Velcro to connect her individual units together (at left) for use in her larger bags, but she can disconnect them anytime to use them as stand-alone units!

The batik fabrics used by Wendy Hallett (of Jasper, MI) for this Wrapsody give it an extra-special look in our contest in April! Wendy said that she's been saving these fabric for something special which is exactly what this Wrapsody is!

This bee-youtiful Wrapsody by Eileen Risser of Portland, OR came in 2nd in May. She made it for her sister. Eileen chose this fabric because her sister is known as Mrs. Bee.  :)  Here's a peek at the inside.

And Lies Bos-Varkevisser of the Netherlands was back with another extraordinary Wrapsody in June. This bag was destined to be a gift for Lies' DIL who I'm guessing might be a Laurel Burch fan? And it's just as pretty INSIDE!

It looks like this fabric was tailor-made for our HipBag Hybrid! Linda Masters of Little Elm, TX entered it in our July contest & said it would be a Mother's Day gift to her mother-in-law. Here's a peek at the back and inside the hidden inner storage area!

Patti Foley says she loves the Quattro design. And even though the Quattro has LOTS of exterior pockets, Patti added even MORE to the interior! She kept this bag for herself, no surprise there! This great bag came in 2nd in our August contest but you can make it a winner by voting for it today!

This fine Quattro was created by Anna Postova for our September contest when it was our 2nd place finisher. Anna is a music teacher by day & started working in patchwork in 2008, and now is branching out in to bag-making!

This Quattro was created by Edna Fitzgerald of Tyler, TX for our October contest. Edna had this fabric for months before deciding to use for this bag and I'd say she saved it for just the right project!

And finally, just last month this wonderful cowboy-themed Guardian captured 2nd place. It was created by Sue Kettley of Newcastle, WY and I think she did a splendid job! (Click here to see the drop-down credit card organizer.)

OK, ready to vote now?
Only one vote per MONTH, per email address.

I've know Deb for sometime now as she's a regular at a few of the shows we vend at. She's a delight to be around and her work is fabulous so I thought I'd give you a chance to get to know her.
First off, she's designed some gorgeous quilt patterns. My favorite is her Twirl-a-Tool pattern which makes use of her ingenious Brilliant Bindings tool, but don't forget to check out these SnuggleTails patterns! I don't know about you, but my Internet Service Provider (ISP) is constanting changing their firewall. I know they do it for my protection but sometimes it keeps me from receiving important emails! But did you know you can avoid this problem by "whitelisting" certain email addresses? (like info@studiokatdesigns.com to make sure you always get our newsletter!) Koko the gorilla received a special gift for her 44th birthday. The gorilla, famous for her knowledge of American Sign Language, was presented with a box of kittens and allowed to choose two as pets; the remaining cats were adopted into good homes. Koko received her first cat in 1984 after signing that she wanted a cat, and being unsatisfied with a toy one.

The men attending Scotland's inaugural Sew Macho event in Glasgow next week will return home with something even more important to boast about. They'll also know how to hem a pair of trousers, mend a rip in the knee of a much-loved pair of jeans or - the Holy Grail for most fashion-forward chaps - sew on a button!
