NEWS - Wade participates in Sp[OIL]ed Project
Wade is participating in the Sp[OIL]ed Project which benefits the people of our Gulf coastline who’ve been devastated by the oil spill. The Sp[oil]ed Project is a creative photography project that depicts people in various scenarios, with oil stains. Autographed pictures will be framed and auctioned. They will also be included in a coffee table book to be produced late this year or early next year. The September 12th issue of Country Weekly will also feature the project. More on this in future WOWW! issues.
For more information and Wade's pic for the project go to the WOWW! site News page.
CMA Music Fest Week
June 5 - June 11
Wade's week actually started the Saturday before Music Fest with a performance on the Saturday night Grand Ole Opry. Due to the flooding conditions the Opry relocated to different venues as space was available. This evening the event was held at the Allen Arena, the gymnasium for David Lipscomb University. Nice location, plenty of parking and affable hosts. While the Opry was in the gym, the symphony was in the auditorium. On various corners as you came into the area, students holding parking information signs were dressed to draw attention - cowboy/cowgirl outfits for the Opry; dress suits or tuxedos for the symphony. Interesting to see the mix in this music town. We co-exist peacefully.
Jeannie Shepherd was the host for the segment Wade performed on. She's always spot on - knows who is and how talented and makes sure that she expresses that to the audience.
Tuesday - Starting an early day, Wade fished in the Porter Waggoner Memorial Bass Tournament. Ending the day at the Limelight performing in the Nashville Navy show. A large group of entertainers and a very large crowd enjoyed the evening of music. The performers were those who've been on cruises or beach parties with Travelinc. Storme Warren, the GAC-TV personality, is always the host and does a great job. The segments of the show are like an acoustic "writer's night" scene - several artists on stage at once, each taking turns singing (what they wrote, or what they recorded or what had been requested). Wade, as always, was very well received both when on-stage and at the meet and greet that followed.
Wednesday - A new event for Wade - Ty Herndon's Make-A-Wish Benefit show at the Nashville Palace. Multiple artists performed and Wade received the best reception (not just my perception - lots of overheard comments). He was programmed to do 3 - 5 numbers, did 5 and the audience would not let him get away without a sixth one.
Thursday - Out at Judge Bean's to a jam packed crowd - they needed some wall extenders. Lots of out of towners here - Canada, Washington state, Florida, Kansas - from coast to coast and lots of locations in between. All there for the same reason - Wade's performance with a group of stellar musicians. Some of the best country music in Nashville is played right here in the Judge's bar-b-q place. You get a full evening (not that it's ever enough) of Wade's music - songs that he's written and/or recorded - as well as covers of the artists that he holds in high esteem.
Friday morning- Sold out house at the Copper Kettle. We packed in a few more than last year and it worked well. The Kettle always provides an excellent brunch and a good sound set-up. The room is right for acoustic music and the porch, with its scenic view of downtown Nashville is great for meet and greet shots. Fans were lined up early (they beat us there) and stayed to the end. Megan Mullins, fiddle player extraordinary, kept those waiting for their turn at the meet-and-greet well entertained. She's beautiful and multi-talented. She plays with Randy Owen's band. She and her husband, John, are good friends of Wade's.
It was a week of great music. Plan to make it to Nashville next year.
