2 Corinthians 5:15 And He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
TESTED OR TEMPTED? REMEMBER CHRIST'S MISSION!
It is very easy to misunderstand one another. Words have all sorts of definitions and various meanings that unless you know the context of what is being said, you can find yourself very lost. The same is true with God's Word. We are tempted to not dig into it and know it correctly!
Maybe the first thing you think of when you see the word "commission" is that of a paycheck, as in "If I work hard enough and meet the goals of my employer, I'll get a nice commission." In the context of God's Word we find God's goal. "You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy." (Leviticus 19:2). Therefore, according to God's holy law there is no chance I'll ever receive a commission from God for my work or "good deeds." In fact, when I examine how God expects me to be, my daily "omissions" in following His commandments only earns me death, guilt, and eternal punishment.
However, because of God's amazing grace He shows me a different meaning of the word "commission." God shows me how He commissioned His perfect Son, Jesus Christ, to take away my sin and guilt forever! And now, God has "commissioned" me to share this good news with all the world in all I say and with my example in all that I do! Just as Paul wrote to the Corinthian Christians, "And He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again" (2 Corinthians 5:15).
Since, we have been commissioned by the Almighty God to be ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20) of His Word of love, let us not omit to gladly read and come to hear His Word. We learn by and from His love, in order to show and teach others about it. That is our "Great Commission" from Christ. That is our mission!
