“Eat ‘til you drop, for tomorrow we shop!” I came across this Thanksgiving saying the other day while browsing for some new Thanksgiving recipes. It reminded me of all the alluring sales ads that we’ll soon be bombarded with for the upcoming holidays.
Are feeling overwhelmed this year? Desperate for some peace of mind? Constantly frustrated because you can’t find what you’re looking for in your home? Instead of shopping for more stuff this year, I suggest you put the ads down and organize your home.
This may seem radical, but taking care of yourself should trump running yourself ragged. Explain to your adult loved ones and friends that as much as you like giving and receiving gifts, this year you are going to buy less (or nothing at all). Spend the time you would have normally spent shopping, wrapping and returning gifts on improving your well-being. Get your home organized, so by this time next year you’ll be more relaxed to enjoy the holidays.
Of course, you can ask them not to buy you anything as well. Come on…what do you need anyway?

The next time you attend a trade show for your company and they give you a name tag in a plastic pouch, put a stash of your business cards behind your name badge.
When you meet someone and they ask for your card, you’ll find it quickly and impress the other guest with your cleverness.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio is collecting items for an upcoming fundraiser:
Collections for Kids
Time: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Monday-Saturday
Location: Tri-Village Self Storage, 3490 Trabue Rd, Columbus, OH 43204 or Tri-Village Self Storage, 195 E Long St, Columbus, OH 43215
Please bring in and donate your items of value to our Charity Storage unit. All of the donated items collected will be placed in a storage unit that will be auctioned and the proceeds will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio.
Suggestions for donations: Bikes, electronics, game systems, golf clubs, small appliances, vinyl records, memorabilia, unwanted antiques, lamps, dishes, etc. All your personal collections that you have forgotten or if you would like to clear out some space in your house or apartment. Please, no clothing, old TV’s or computers… We are looking for items that will raise the auction value.
