The
Botanical Society of Washington (BSW) was formed in 1901 by a union of the Botanical Seminar and the Washington Botanical Club. Early members included such notables as Erwin F. Smith, David Fairchild, and F.V. Coville along with J.N. Rose, O.F. Cooke, E.L. Greene, and F.H. Knowlton. The Society has met continuously since its inception – i.e. for 116 years!
The Society offers regional field trips and monthly presentations on a variety of plant related topics.
BSW also offers a “Members’ Night” at which members give 5-10 minute presentations sharing some of their botanical travel or research slides, or to present other short subjects (10 minutes or less) to which this format is especially suited.
Membership is available to all persons having an interest in Botany and the other plant sciences.
