Council Communication
MEGA COUNCIL
Speak up now...your
voice matters
Dear Community Members
You may have read in today’s Manly Daily that Warringah Council has
announced that they will be submitting an alternate merger proposal for
one Northern Beaches Council to the Minister for Local Government.
Now more than ever is the time for the Pittwater community to get
behind the current merger proposal for an expanded Pittwater Council
joining with suburbs from northern Warringah. The government needs
to
hear the voice of Pittwater which has been overwhelmed by the Warringah
campaign for one council.
The Pittwater community has strongly expressed the desire to stand
alone with no change. Council and the community have also fought hard
against the creation of one mega council. The two council proposal
balances the divergent views of the community and creates a strong
council.
Let’s be loud and clear! This will be the final opportunity to
make your voice heard or risk becoming one council.
What can you do?
Get your submissions in to the Delegate supporting the proposal of an
expanded Pittwater Council with suburbs of northern Warringah.
Notes to support your submission are available on Council’s website at www.pittwater.nsw.gov.au/council/local_government_reform/have_your_say
Or your submission may simply include:
- I support the proposal of an expanded Pittwater
with suburbs of northern Warringah
- I strongly object to one Northern Beaches
Council
Submissions can be lodged online at: www.councilboundaryreview.nsw.gov.au/proposals/pittwater-and-warringah-councils/#submission
and must be received by the Delegate by Sunday 28
February, 5pm.
It is vital that the entire Pittwater community provide submissions and
we urge you to speak with your networks, family and friends to be part
of this final message to the State Government.
Extraordinary meeting – Saturday 10 am
Importantly, Council will hold an extraordinary meeting on Saturday 27
February at 10am at Mona Vale Memorial Hall to consider Council’s
submission to the Delegate. We welcome everyone’s attendance to
show
strong support for this submission. A Council report will be uploaded
on Council's website today and the submission will be available at the
meeting. Members of the community may register to speak but must do so
by 3pm, Friday 26 February. Up to 12 speakers (6 for and against)
can
register by calling 9970 1111.
Message to Mike Baird
In addition to writing a submission, it is also important that you let
the Premier, Mike Baird know how strongly you feel about the creation
of a mega council for the northern beaches.
Write to:
The Hon. Mike Baird, MP

2 Wentworth Street
MANLY NSW 2095
Our community has always said that they wish to remain as we are on the
existing boundaries, but it is very clear that the State Government is
not going to let that happen.
We want to reassure you that we will continue to strongly advocate for
an expanded Pittwater as we believe this is the best outcome for our
community and the region.
